Alex - thank you sooooo much for your post and pictures. Pyros is the only person I really cared about watching at this Olympics and my vcr taping isn't working!!!!!! You saved me man. The crowd yelled for 15 minutes!!!! I can't believe the NBC hasn't said anything about this!

What an incredible experience for you and Greece!

Good luck to Khaki tonigh!

Hello again! Just got back from track and field tonight...Needless to say all the events were awesome!

Besides the 100 meters the one that stood out was the women's 400m hurdles semis, with Hiotis smashing the Olympic record! I can't describe to you guys what it's like when a Greek athlete wins in there! Even our foreign guests are screaming to the tops of their lungs! I guess they're taken away by the moment!

The crowd is fantastic! it was so moving to see everyone, cheer for every athlete, regardless of nation, and regardless if he had countrymen of his competing against the "foreigner".

Regarding Maurice Green. I saw the beast from up close when he changed shirts, and then exploding forward. (I was sitting behind the flagpoles right behind the 100m start).

Of particular mention is the fact that I see many athletes in the stadium as spectators, they too having the fun of their lives!

Anyway, some pics from tonight of Justin, "The Gatling Gun" Gatlin and Hiotis...

Just got back from the Olympic Stadium...

I was getting goose bumps even on the short ride home! What a night again! (still-It's not over yet)

Fani Halkia raced her heart out and won gold on the women's 400m hurdles! The tenacity which this girl showed was breathtaking-she wouldn't slow down, and naturally the whole stadium was going mad!

I am watching the last minutes of the voleyball match that sent the winner to the semis, between Hellas and USA(My brother taped it for me)! WATCH IT-we're talking thriller scenes here. It went point to point until the very end, after 5 sets...It's such a suspense ride, that I won't spoil this one for you if you haven't already seen the results!

Allen Johnson was so unlucky in mens 110m hurdles! I felt sorry for the guy who knocked the first hurdle, lost his balance then went on. He knocked a second, almost lost it, went on. He knocked a third, and came diving down about 10m before the finish line. The whole stadium was dissapointed in not seeing him make it to the finals.

In other news that made me happy and proud today, Nikos Kaklamanakis, former gold-Olympian, and the torchbearer who had the honour to light the Cauldron in this Olympiad, ended his career after winning silver in Mistral class sailing (windsurfing). His never-quit attitude is an inspiration to every man, not just athlete, and so I'm starting tonight's tribute with him. EYGE NIKOS!

What a shame for an athlete the class of Johnson though. Imagine the years of hard work to come crashing down like they did in that second to last damned hurdle...

BTW, sorry I'm not providing an overall overview of the Olympics, but I figured you can catch that on TV, so it would be more interesting to read my memoirs and highlights!

Sorry guys-no pictures or diary today.

Sometimes I just can't understand how physchology works. A national sports hero was found to be avoiding a dope test just two weeks ago, with a whole country being shocked and dissapointed.

Today, when the 200m race is up, the race he was supposed to take part in, the whole stadium shouts his name and boos in dissaproval. One minute they love him, next minute they hate him, next minute they want him back...As if the guy was robbed of his Olympic starting place and not found avoiding a dope test!

If that is the way that the public will support anti-doping efforts, I am seriously concerned about the future of athleticism.

Goodnight from a very dissapointed Alex.
