Re: 135 lb. Overhead Squat Box Jump

That's going in the same place as that handstand leg press I saw a few weeks ago on the CF Facebook page... While it demonstrates great ability of the athlete completing it, the video itself could be detrimental to bringing in new members, and will only increase the amount of flack CF gets against it being a safe fitness regimen.

Re: 135 lb. Overhead Squat Box Jump

What people do in their gyms should not bother anyone. You have to think about what you are actually saying here. I care a lot about the reputation of CrossFit because my livelihood depends on it. Goofy stuff becomes an issue when it is programmed for the masses. If an affiliate programmed a workout that had an inherently dangerous movement like this, it would be cause for alarm. If you saw this in a competition it would be even worse. The Guy doing this said he was messing around in the gym, if you spend enough time in a gym, you need to do stuff that gets you excited about being there again.

Some of the posts on here make me feel like you guys go to knitting class instead of gyms. Let people show what they can do, it should not anger you that this guy did something "dangerous" and put it on the internet.

Re: 135 lb. Overhead Squat Box Jump

Extreme...

I believe the problem lies in the delivery of the video. I'm not saying there needed to be a disclaimer or explanation but it might have avoided a lot of the back lash. As we all know, there are quite a few new people and those trying to do CF on their own perusing the CF discussion board.

In my opinion, the original post was the trigger. The OHSBJ isn't something you do haphazardly and the original poster conceded to that.

Re: 135 lb. Overhead Squat Box Jump

From the looks of the video he is performing the lift in an anti-gravity chamber, so I'm not impressed.

Re: 135 lb. Overhead Squat Box Jump

I still call no rep. It's not an Overhead 'squat' box jump until he breaks parallel.

Film it again or it's not legit.
