Re: Pendlay Elite Bars

Beautiful looking bar - I am suffering bar lust again.

One question for Glenn: I am wondering why you chose to put center knurling on this bar? Is it because of the switch away from the black oxide coating?

One of the things that I love about my Crossfit bar is the absence of center knurling.

I believe that you are correct. Glenn did tell me that if someone wanted he coud make one with black oxide coating. I bet he would make you one without center knurling.

Re: Pendlay Elite Bars

I just checked my bar. The knurling is softer in the middle than on the sides. I had forgetten that he was going to do this.

Re: Pendlay Elite Bars

Obviously different people want different things, and just as I have sold the Pendlay mens bar in chrome with a center knurl for customers who wanted it, I could do a Pendlay Elite bar with no center knurl if someone wanted it, or even do one in a zinc coating if someone wanted that.

The decision as to do chrome or a black zinc coating and to do no center knurl or to have a center knurl is purely made based on what I think most people will want in a certain bar, and what works the best with the intended use of the bar. There isnt much cost difference between the two finishes.

Back squats and anything else that requires a centered hold (SDHP, for instance). Not really relevant for weightlifting unless you're doing jerks from behind the neck.

Wow, that's just an amazing customer focus Glenn. Thanks for the response. Sadly, I'm not yet at the point where I can justify a bar beyond the Crossfit bar but that does not stop me from lusting after the Elite bar.

And, to be honest, I will probably never attain the level of ability where I would really benefit from it. But that doesn't mean that I would not benefit from the lifelong value that it would provide so I will have to save my pennies and wait for the day that I can sneak it past the wife into the house.

Thanks again Glenn; awesome product; awesome support to the community.

Sam

Don't think that hasn't crossed my mind.

But I think the right thing to do is use it as an incentive: I'll tell myself that I can have it when I hit one of my goals (like 10X BW OHS). That should motivate me.
