I spent the whole summer in PT with limited success. I finally took a month and did nothing except light BJJ rolling and a few hour walks on the weekends to let it my achilles rest.

Tonight I ran for the first time in 6 months. Only went about 1.5 miles with a few breaks to stretch. But I felt great! My heart rate was 185bpm when I finished...

That's great. I ruptured mine about nine weeks ago. Good to hear you are recovering well.

5-6 months is about right for a repair of the Achilles tendon. It is very slow going the first 3 months and then you can progress pretty quickly.

i did mine 9 years ago. so let me tell you that you will come back from it and not think of it unless you see the scar. i ran 6 months to the day too. well it was a run limp, but you know what i mean.

my advise is take it slow. the thing is strong but you mind will tell your otherwise. take it slow so you mind an body can get back together. there is no rush is there? you'll be fine and back and better than ever in no time.

Man, I am so happy. I ran 2 miles today. Before the injury I really didn't like running...Now I almost enjoy it :-)

I went to metro run and walk and had my gait analyzed. Bought a pair of Mizuno running shoes. I had been wearing the wrong size and type for years.
