What's up with intermittent fasting?

I have read on the Crossfit Journal and on the board that people do their Zone/Paleo with periods if intermittent fasting. Could someone please explain this and the how and the why.

Look at the Similar Threads down at the bottom and search (w/fs).

Check out Robb Wolf's website http://*************/?p=360 (wfs)
here's another IF webpage by Robb http://*************/?s=intermittent+fasting&paged=2 (wfs)
I went to Robb's Nutrition Cert class & found all of it very interesting.

Re: What's up with intermittent fasting?

IF, when done correctly, is the most potent fat-loss tool I've ever encountered.

Last year, adding it to the paleo zone that I was already following, I dropped 8lbs in just a few weeks. If I'm 100% honest I kind of overdid it (it was an experiment) by fasting overly long or overly often and it is easy to become dizzy in those circumstances. But performance was fine (I'm quite sure there was a 3 min Fran in there somewhere...) except for maximal strength

And that was 8lbs from somebody in clear single digits bodyfat, so to me anything that does that is very effective indeed. 162lbs was too light though, went back up to 170lbs shortly after.

Ditto the above. Read and learn.

My $.02:

I do a daily 15- to 20-hour IF. That combined with paleo and CF has become a terrific lifestyle for me. I've never felt better.

How was your muscle retention? I'm assuming you kept it paleo. So paleo + IF = Warrior Diet? Do you have any tips that would help keep muscle? Or Is it not even an issue?
