I have been reading the web site and discussion board for over a year and last week I finally decided to get off my duff and try crossfit. I have worked in EMS for 5yrs, last month I switched over to a local fire dept. where I will be expected to go to rookie school in the spring. I knew that if I didn't get in shape it was going to kill me. So I quit smoking and started crossfit. So far it has been great! I haven't been able to as many set/reps/miles as the WOD but I already feel a greater difference than with any other workout I have tried. I am really excited about this program and look forward to talking to all of you more. Thanks for making this such a great community!

Michael

Welcome Michael!

Congrats on jumping into the WOD, but even bigger congrats on kicking the smokes. Scaling the WOD's for a while is a good idea, hopefully you're in this for the long haul.

Hey Michael,

Where in Arkansas are you from? I'm originally from a small town near Stuttgart. Stick with Crossfit. You'll love it.

Yeah "kicking the smokes" has been really hard but since I started CF I really don't think about it all that much since I am focusing on the WOD. Thinking about how I am doing day to day on my times just keeps my mind off of smoking. Dustin, I am from Siloam Springs. Its up in the NW corner near Fayetteville.

Yep, I know where it is--we used to go to church camp there during the summers when I was a kid.

Hi Michael and Dustin

I'm from the other side of the state - Jonesboro - and have been CFing it for about a year myself. Let me know when either of you are on this side of the state - I've a crossfit friendly gym here.

Great to hear from you both!

That sounds great! I hardly ever get down that far. But sometime I will have to make a special trip. Maybe we can get some CF Arkansas people together.

Well, I'm originally from AR. Now I live in Raleigh, NC. I'm glad to see the Razorback State represented here, though. I'd like to get back to AR at some point, somewhere in the NW or north central part of the state. Too many mosquitoes in the delta!
