I have talked to my friends and they are willing to start the Crossfit training. We are all excited about starting, but we dont know where to start. I have read through most of the info on the website and are wondering where to start. Should we just start doing the WOD and stick with that, or integrate that with our workout that we are already doing? Is the WOD going to give us the workout we want? Any routines that are more drawn out for beginners? Let me know bc we want to get started as soon as possible.

Thanks
Take Care
Scott

Beginner's Workout from the Crossfit Journal.

Less is more. Build a good base and go from there.

But you definitely have to do the first metcon workout as RX'd. :stirthepot:

Hey man, That would be EXCELLENT!!!! We just did our first WOD starting today, and we were dying....but we loved it. Yeah I am sure my friends would love to come up to INDY and see how it all works and get a up front and personal look at the whole Crossfit techniques and routines. Does it matter when we come up? Better time or date? Just let me know and I am sure we will get something together, bc my friends and I are getting into it.

Take Care
Scott

Scott,
Email me at jeff@shokfitness.com. Maybe we can do a little mini-seminar for you and your buddies, so you can at least get some of the basics down.

Scott - metcon means metabolic conditioning and refers to cardiovascular/cardio respiratory workouts but don't think of them as LSD work (Long Slow Distance) but rather very intense work periods with periodic changes of exercises. As Rx'd means as prescribed...as described in the WOD (Workout Of the Day). If you do the workout as described without lowering the weight or making any other changes you have done it as Rx'd. If you adjust it, if you tailor the workout to your own ability it is called scaling...which is a critical CrossFit component and what allows an Olympic athlete to do the "same" workout as a weekend warrior, a little kid or a grandma. Do not be afraid to scale the workouts, take breaks when you need to, use bands for pullups...just note what you do so you can gauge the improvement for the next time you do that workout.

This board is a tremendous resource for you and you as is the rest of the website. Be sure to read foundations, order the CF Journal and watch the section with the videos on the exercises. Proper form is critical to your safe and proper CF development. Welcome aboard, you'll like it here.

Hello all, for the beginning work outs I've been trying to figure out...should I be doing classic squats or tabatas?

Sorry, the answer is probably right infront of me, but sometimes we can't see the trees for the forest..

thanks}
