Re: Why no Glute Ham RAISE on the GHD?

Ben and Steven why are both of you still misrepresnting what I said? I never said Oly-lifting, running, and gymnastics don't work. I said they are not as effective. That is why people do the GHR movement that are the best at these events.

Leonid, we implement them in the warm up. add a set of 10 to each round of warm up. Watch your lagging squats and deadlifts spiral upwards. Please report back in a few weeks and tell everyone I am lying or an idiot if this does not hold true. also, watch your performance increase in Oly-lifting, running, and gymnastics with regards to your greater posterior strength. just don't over do it. Pretty much 40lbs to the back squat and 80lbs to the DL in3-4 weeks with no other changes to programing.

Between effort and time spent, Oly-lifting, running, and gymnastics as events will not reap you the benefits of the GHR on a magnatude of 50 for developing the Posterior chain. Just try it and see. this is about efficiency. Why would I spend precious time on the magnatude of hours doing what I can do in minutes then reap the benefits from it in those other activities?

Re: Why no Glute Ham RAISE on the GHD?

I will Joey. I like the move so far. If it does what it does - I'll owe you a beer during one of the Certs, since if it'll raise my decent total to a pretty high level (1100 is rarely seen in CF, outside of it of course it's nothing) and help me sprint without running - I'm taking it.

All that in a 3 "easy" sets a day.

Er? I mean I agree no doubt it's a great exercise. I've done them before. I recommend them as a great bodyweight exercise.

But yeah.. I don't think I really misinterpreted what you said although it may have been worded a bit poorly. It seemed like you were saying LITERALLY that those 3 things "do not even come close in strengthing the posterior chain" which is the actual quote.

Hey guys - how's this look for a GHR (since most videos have GHR looking a bit dofferently)?

It looks ok, how does it feel? From the Dave Tate article he said when you are in the horizontal position your toes should be touching the plate. As you get more vertical make sure you squeeze your glutes at the top.

Feels great.
I have to adjust the feet on the GHD - make them bigger.

Leonid, did you have any trouble with the edge of the gh digging into your thighs. I have the same ghd, and I can't seem to position myself correctly. The pad seems to shift forward. I will keep monkeying with it.

Re: Why no Glute Ham RAISE on the GHD?

No. Just a regular compression similar to foam rolling on the quads.

Feels fine.

Re: Why no Glute Ham RAISE on the GHD?

I don't have access to one of those machines, so I just tried it with my feet being held... my goodness, I'm not even close to lifting myslef up from the floor without using my arms to push myself fairly hard. I wonder if it's easier with one of these machines.

Re: Why no Glute Ham RAISE on the GHD?

BUMP............

I recently started doing these 3 times a week and it's immediately apparent why they are so useful for the PC. My running and DL is noticeably better after only a few weeks of GHR's. If anyone out there hasn't yet done them, I'd recommend taking a quick trip through this thread. It's a good read and I'm still interested in why they're not included in mainpage. Reasons put forth are that either they're not functional enough in the crossfit sense or they require a GHD/there is a lack of subs. I'm leaning towards the latter.
