Re: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger - Tamara's log

7/11/11

Uh, I wasn't sure exactly how I was going to feel after the meet, but I figured I'd go for it and train today since I wasn't going to do anything crazy anyway.

Front squat:
2 x 50 kg
1 x 55 kg
1 x 60 kg
1 x 65 kg

The actual squats felt fine, but I could totally feel tension in my right elbow, so I decided right then not to C&J.

Snatch:
3 or 4 at 25 kg - Not so much feeling great, haha
2 x 1 x 30 kg - On the second one, Dan said, "That was fast like Talladega nights"
1 x 32 kg - And then, "It was like there was a rocket attached to your butt." Good visual, Dan.
1 x 35 kg - Eh
1 x 35 kg - Fast but jumped forward
1 x 35 kg - Better
1 x 39 kg - Forward
1 x 39 kg - Forward

Squat:
1 x 135 lbs
1 x 155 lbs
1 x 175 lbs
1 x 185 lbs
1 x 200 lbs

And, that was all.

Good to see you get back to it. Though I am surprised you aren't taking a little more down time following the big meet, especially since you don't have another one scheduled right on its heels.

Tamara is like the rest of us and can't get away from the training. It really is an addiction. I have to force myself to rest on rest days.

Well, yeah. I was wrong.

I should have just taken a few days off.

I'm actually fine to chill for a little. My stress level has been lowered dramatically with the meet behind me.

Re: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger - Tamara's log

7/12/11

Squat:
5 x 20 kg
1 x 50 kg
1 x 60 kg
1 x 70 kg
1 x 80 kg
1 x 85 kg
1 x 90 kg - Dumped this one on the way down because I didn't like the bar position with my right arm. Then, I could feel it in my elbow, so I decided to just forget it.

Power snatch:
1 x 25 kg
1 x 25 kg
1 x 30 kg
1 x 35 kg
1 x 35 kg
1 x 35 kg

Power clean and jerk:
1 x 35 kg - Oh hell no on the jerk. Shoulders, elbow, everything told me eff off.

So, yeah. Not exactly recovered from the meet yet.

Front squat:
1 x 50 kg
1 x 55 kg
1 x 60 kg
1 x 65 kg

I am just going to chill tomorrow. Maybe I will squat. Maybe not. My right arm needs a good solid rest.

And, I think Rip will be at my gym on Thursday and/or Friday, so resting tomorrow = yes, please.

Good call on the rest, seems your elbow has been acting up for a few days. Ice?

Ice, and I am going to do the ibuprofen protocol. I snatched and pressed with Rip today, but it generally only starts bugging me on the clean and jerk. We'll see tomorrow.

Re: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger - Tamara's log

7/14/11

Training with Rip at my gym.

Power snatch to 44 kg. This was all about working on my setup. Well, it was all about CHANGING my setup. I widened my grip a good bit. In all the fixes that have been made to my snatch, my grip has never changed. Hmmm. Hips are higher at the start, of course. That didn't feel nearly as weird as I thought it would.

Then, a few hours later, I power snatched to 42 kg. Legs were definitely tired from the early session.

Press:
2 x 3 x 45 lbs
2 x 65 lbs
1 x 75 lbs
1 x 85 lbs
1 x 90 lbs
1 x 95 lbs
4 x 85 lbs

Rip tried to get me to do an Olympic press, and I couldn't figure it out to save my life.

I had 5 women training with the USAW club tonight, so Rip served as guest coach. It was fun and funny because they all wanted to run home and get their SS books and have him autograph them.

Re: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger - Tamara's log

7/15/11

Training with Rip again.

Learned how to split snatch. Despite thinking that I would kill myself somehow, I didn't. It was kind of fun.

Power snatch to 45 kg.

Power clean and jerk to 52 kg. Worked on racking the clean and jerking FAST instead of sitting with it in the rack for half an hour.

Squat:
5 x 20 kg
3 x 50 kg
2 x 60 kg
1 x 70 kg
1 x 80 kg
1 x 85 kg

Rip made me order The Inner Game of Tennis: The Classic Guide to the Mental Side of Peak Performance by W. Timothy Gallwey to help fix all of my mental crap.
