Rest day schedule changes

I've been doing crossfit for about 6months, and I still have not had a good schedule for rest days. I've been doing wods about 3 days a week, and the last month decided I should be hitting them at least 5 days a week. I've gone m--f then taken the weekend off, I've gone 2/1 2/1 1. 3/1 2/1

Just wondered if there is any insight on whether changing basically every week is good or bad. Obviously I have to listen to my body and go from there, but I'm starting to wonder if a set schedule wouldnt be best.

Re: Rest day schedule changes

You mentioned that you are doing the wods 3 day per week but want to ramp up to five. I would suggest working out four days per week for a couple months, before jumping into the five or six days per week. Something like this was always a great schedule for me when I first started or when I felt burned out:
Mon, Tues: workout
Wed: off
Thur, Fri: workout
Sat, Sun: off
This schedule allowed me to push hard for two days in a row and still get plenty of rest. The thing I like about having Sat and Sun off, is that when Mon rolls around, I was always well rested and ready to hit it hard. Whatever you choose, the main thing is to listen to your body. If you feel you need a rest day, don't be afraid to take it off even though it's a scheduled workout day.

Re: Rest day schedule changes

I've been doing 4 or 5 a week for the last 6 weeks and have been doing ok. I've just kinda been all over the place as far as when I have a rest day. I was thinking of just going 2 or 3 days and taking a rest day when needed.

I take rest days when my body needs them. I guess I'm really asking if it matter that I dont have a set schedule.

Re: Rest day schedule changes

Sounds like you're on the right track then. 4-5 days a week is darn good IMO. Personally, I don't think it matters if you don't have a "scheduled" rest day as long as you're taking a day off when your body tells ya too.
