The only thing better than push jerk is split jerk.

Re: Push Jerk 5 x 5

quick question:

when ya'll clean the bar up to your chest, before you actually push the bar up, where do you let the bar rest in your hands. i feel like this position just puts a ton of torque on my wrists and they feel really uncomfortable by the third set. i have the same problem with squats when the bar is in the position.

any tips or pointers to take some pressure off my wrists?

thanks in advance.

I haven't paid all that close of attention, I'll have to do some and let you know my hand position, but I'm pretty sure that my wrists are pretty right with a solid hook grip. I tend to rest the bar on my chest a bit as well.

Re: Push Jerk 5 x 5

I keep the bar in the "rack position" the same as front squats right up until i finish the intial dip. I might be pushing the bar with the front of my shoulders a bit but I have no wrist pain. My hand position is a thumbs length outside my shoulders. I dont know if thats the correct way but it works for me.

Re: Push Jerk 5 x 5

i think i might just be letting the bar roll to far back towards my fingers. but if i dont do that, then i have a hard time resting the bar on my chest when i need a quick breath.

thanks for the input though, guys.

I have the same problem. My wrist feels pinched when I hold the bar in the rack position. My hands are just outside of shoulder width, but I have trouble getting my elbows up high. I wonder if its do to my shoulder flexibility.

Rob and Spence...I do believe this is due to shoulder/tricep/wrist flexibility. The only way I can think of to gain additional flexibility is to stretch with the bar.

Ditto this. Hubby's wrists look like they're ready to snap when he racks a bar in the clean/fs position. The bar barely rests in 2 fingers, but he's able to rack the bars will elbows high. It's taken quite a while for him to get to this point. Just keep at it.
