The Santa Monica FD / Lifeguards will never let CrossFit do this again

Not everyone. Some people though. The swim back in looks way easier than battling the waves on the way out.

Re: CF Games 2011 General Thread

At least now you have something to watch while it's actually happening... even if it's choppy. They will still have recaps at the end of the day and ESPN will probably be a lot more polished so don't watch it now if you don't like it. I think it's pretty cool I can sit here in Ohio and still experience things as they happen, choppy or not.

Ah ha i see!

A 210m ocean swim for someone who's never swam in the ocean can be tough. And there seems to be pretty big wave breaks!

But I thought they were elite enough to be prepared for the unknown and unknowable. Has my stupidity
lead me astray?

Athletes must've known there was going to be a swim even before us non-competitors knew there was even swim test. How could so many have known to pack swimsuits?

Re: CF Games 2011 General Thread

Open water swims in general are brutal.
Open water swims in the ocean are even tougher.
Open water swims in the ocean in a pack of people are just plain awful.

Um Steve... Reebok supplied the athletes with everything they're wearing... minus shoes and socks.
