Foam Roller recommendations?

I'm looking to purchase a foam roller and would love suggestions as to which ones work the best. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Re: Foam Roller recommendations?

I bought might from PerformBetter and it has lasted me over 2 years and is holding up just fine. Get the ones that are denser foam (on PB they are the black ones).

A 2' length of 4" PVC covered with a glued on yoga mat cut to fit. Best foam roller EVER.

Actually, a PVC pipe with NO mat is the best SMR roller ever. It is not for the faint of heart though.

I have two (well, one and a repurposed kitchen tool)

1. A rolling pin. A regular rolling pin. I like that you can roll yourself over it or use the handles to direct the roll.

2. Someone gave me a knobbed roller to use after my first half marathon, and I still have it. It looks kind of like a gear. This isn't it, but it has the same principles in mind (wfs): http://www.amazon.com/RumbleRoller-C...864124&sr=8-21.

I like that one because I can feel it working deeper than a perfectly cylindrical roller.

That, but make sure it's the thicker black ABS pipe rather than the thinner white PVC.

PVC tends to be a little flimsy. But I got 10ft of ABS pipe for about $15, cut it into five 2ft sections, and wrapped a few with a piece of yoga mat and a few with black athletic tape. Much cheaper and more effective than anything you'll find in a store, and I ended up with 5 good rollers.

This is exactly what a training partner did, and how I got mine. Sharing is caring.
