19 year old American snatches 200kg, clean 230kg etc.

Not sure where to post this video, but what Pat Mendes does here is mind boggling, especially at the age of 19, especially the 200kg snatch, only 16kg off the current WR.

Coach John Broz is doing great things at his gym.

Pretty good, his coach has been training like him for years on end up through his Master career, no knee, hip, or back problems. The coach is smart to make sure there is a balance.

He will probably feel like breaking Rezazadeh's or Krastev's record.

The shame of it though, is that he doesn't compete, so don't expect to see Pat at Worlds of the Olympic Games.

Man... why would you train at such a high level, and be so close to a WR in something, and NOT want to compete?

On his You Tube channel, his coach told me (something to the effect of) "Why would he want to spend all that money for travel expenses, etc., just for a medal?"

Didn't make sense to me either...

Yeah, there is definitely a big difference between:

- Being better than most people, and not wanting to go to a PL meet or something

and

- Being better than 99.99% of people, and pushing a WR, and not wanting to go to the Olympics because it "costs too much".

Oh well.

The bar looks like it's made of rubber during the squats. This guy's power and the speed at which the bar moves is barely credible.
