Re: Logo - Your opinion please

I think it looks great, once it's incorporated into the rest of your logo. It was a little too abstract without the motto and color.

Re: Logo - Your opinion please

The inner shadow on the orange and the overall drop-shadow is an amateur 1990s look. Just use a solid color. There's too much space between the person and the fire, or the person should have an equal amount of orange on each side of it. Right now it looks unbalanced.

The shape of the person looks like a bathroom sign to me. I would use a silhouette of a real person running...

example (took 1 minute)

The white on black texturized background and font look good though.

Re: Logo - Your opinion please

If you're happy with it, and it won't really affect your marketing one way or the other, it's a great "logo."

As someone whose business is creating identities and brands for businesses, I can also tell you that usually designing your own logo is like treating yourself for a disease in the absence of medical training.

Intuitively, you might be able to achieve marginal results. But you can hurt your business just as easily.

I also find that those who design their own logos are trying to create an expression of themselves— not a brand that potential customers aspire to and are drawn to. And that's a critical distinction.

In other words, if you're serious about building a real brand, not just a fun "logo," it's best trusted to serious, experienced professionals.

Re: Logo - Your opinion please

Im sorry I couldnt respond earlier. All your help is much appreciated.

In germany and most of europe both symbols that inspired me are well known. All your arguments make sense to me reading it, but when I look at it, it just feels comfortable to me. Maybe because Im used to these symbols. So besides adding an arrow pointing towards the door I might stick with what I have so far.

Of course both of you are right about hiring a professional. I totally agree with you that a professional is worth every cent in terms of branding, marketing and corporate identities.
What keeps us from hiring someone is simple. We dont have the budget for this. Everything we buy for our affiliate is paid from our own pockets. We dont have any official support from the fire department yet. We offer our training for free to fire service personnel in our spare time.

So you may call it a fun logo at best.

Re: Logo - Your opinion please

Hey Flo,

I know I already said I like the logo, but I wondered, was there some reason you didn't want to stick with the CF logo you use on facebook?
