Re: Where's the Girl Power?

Just an update on my great weekend, minus the sunburn. Lol! This weekend all the Crossfit affiliates in Boise, Idaho and the Treasure Valley, gathered for the Be The Miracle Fundraiser. Each athlete raised pledges per rep for Fight Gone Bad. The event went really well and we had a good turn-out. Now it's just time to collect those pledges!

On a more personal note I scored a 235. It was the 1st time I've done FGB with a rower, since we don't have one, so I was a little surprised at the low score in that movement. But overall I was pleased. I also made it into the Top Dawg WOD by being one of the top 5 women who did FGB as rx'd. The Top Dawg WOD ended up being Helen, substituting burpess for pull-ups. That 2nd WOD nearly killed me, but I ended up 2nd!

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

Tales from the world of DUs - new PR of 54 on Tuesday, yeeha! 60 DUs here I come! Other people work on a cure for cancer - I try to get my DU numbers up. oh well!

Finally happy with my kipping during Cindy tonight - not perfect but getting much better. Am getting the final pull a lot stronger - i still don't understand how I have no problem with deadhangs but struggle with kips. Technique I guess.

Hey Alix, you've got killer arms! I love that avatar.

I'm still working on getting my first lifetime unassisted pull-up... and until I'm able to get a dead hang, it just doesn't count. I just have to keep working on it...

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

No more being a pansy for me. I'm giving up cleaning the 16 kg KB and moved up to the 20 kg today. It didn't kill me, but I won't say it was easy, either. I've also been afraid of swinging the 24 kg KB because of the handle size, but it's time to give up the 50 lb.

If you've been gripping a weight for too long, just give the next one up a try. Just try it for a few reps to see how it feels. You may like it! You can always keep your lower weight handy in case you bonk.

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

Yo, I'm not a new member, but I left for a while to focus on track, and now I'm back to CrossFit (sort of) for the summer. So hi!

Was quite depressing the other day when I set out to do 4x800m runs and a) had to stop at 400m and b) fastest I ran was 1:33.

Hope to do well this summer.

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

I ran another race today, this one a 10k. Guess what? Not only did I improve my pace by 1 minute (I finished in 1 hr. 15min.) but I RAN the ENTIRE thing!

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

Hi ladies,

I just wanted to introduce myself since I've been creeping around the message board for a little while.

I'm new to Crossfit, doing it for rugby (among other things).

This thread is amazing, so I just wanted to send a quick hello
