I'm so glad to see all of you fierce ladies still kicking butt!

Lori, did you train for the 12k with anything besides Crossfit? Did you throw in anything from Crossfit Endurance?

HA! We have a new Nike "speed rope" at our gym that hurts amazingly bad. I saw it online and thought, "Hmm...regular jump ropes are good...SPEED ropes should be REALLY good!" Hoooo boy was I wrong. I have a disclaimer for my new metal-instead-of-plastic speed rope:

Thou must be strong of both mind and body before embarking on any journey involving the speed rope....because it stings REEEEEEALLY bad.

Word.

My Super Rope is nothing but steel cable covered in a thin coating of PVC. After one particularly bad double-under session, I came home with giant lash marks across the back of my thighs. My husband thought it was hilarious.

Shhhh! Tucker, don't share all my secrets!

I hope all the CrossFit Mommies out there are enjoying this special Mother's day! What did you ladies do for your mother's day? I took my little family to breakfast, and then we hit up the driving range and hit a couple buckets of balls, then went for a 4 mile bike ride. Oddly enough, CrossFit has made me better at the driving range! I'm crushing the ball 100 yards father than last year!
Ah, life is good....
What has CrossFit improved for you that you didn't expect it to improve?

there was a CFJ article about this recently. cf and golf.

I think my favorite quote of Coach's is along the lines of, "more pullups make for better skiiers. we don't know why that's true, but it is...we've seen it"

I expected to have a healthier self image, lose weight/body fat, be more confident in who i am and what i do (i was already pretty confident on the outside, but i had a lot of self-doubt/self esteem issues deep down that i kept covered very well)

what i didn't expect is that my standards for everybody around me would be raised as well. I know what we're capable of. i know that _everybody_ can push 150% to improve their wellbeing, and it frustrates me to see people i care about not fulfilling their potential.

I also didn't expect to have men that i used to be attracted to look disgusting now because of how scrawny they are.

I think i'm better for it

New Uses for Old Food

Two quick things:

First, I had an old avocado that I was sad about. Then I remembered that avocado makes a great face mask/hair mask. Paleo spa day! Most excellent.

Second, and more importantly, I did a 90# OHS today! I'm absolutely psyched because the dam* thing felt great (though it could have been lower ) and my back totally didn't freak out. Totally excited.

Next up: I need a deadhang pullup. Stat.

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

By the way Renee, CF will help with running like a mo-fo. I got sucked into a 6 mile run with my crazy family last weekend and made it all the way through (and killed it on the hill at the end, leaving my marathoning father in the dust). You'll get there no problem.
