Just looking for some recommnedations on which fish oil brand is the most bang for the buck. IOW which brand has a higher dosage with the least amount of expense?

Hey guys, I've been using a new supplement called krill oil. It has more antioxidant power than fish oil, and better bioavailability for the omegas. You can check it out here if you are interested. It's called EFA-Icon (w/f safe). www.adamhead.getprograde.com/store.php?top_menu=Weight_Loss&products=16-18-19&su bmenu=1

I've been using Carlson's as well, lemon flavor. Taste is good. It's a bit on the pricey side but I think it is well worth it.

The Genestra Super EFA liquid oil that I use with patients has ~1800mg EPA/DHA total per teaspoon. It's the highest I've seen, along with being the best tasting by far.

Anybody have any hard data on the krill oil?

Is a super-high concentration better? I figured your body couldn't use all that EPA/DHA if presented in one 1800mg teaspoon "straight up". Is it better to sprinkle it on salads, mix with other liquids, or does it not matter how it's consumed?

Super-high concentration means better patient compliance...:biggrinthumb:
Optimally, doses would be spread out and taken with other foods that contain Omega-3s. Since we live in the real world, once a day with or without food is fine by me. Fish oil taken is better than fish oil forgotten. I won't do krill oil personally or recommend it to my patients because I don't believe that shellfish are healthy, nor do I think overfishing that low on the food chain is a good idea. |
