Re: Starting Team CrossFit Olympic Lifting Team

This sounds intriguing! My cleans are decent, not so much on the snatch. But one of my clients has lots of Oly experience ... I rely on him a lot to help with those things. He might be interested too.

Re: Starting Team CrossFit Olympic Lifting Team

Are there baseline stats someone can post/direct me towards that men and women in different weight categories should be acheiving, if they want to compete in the O-lifts at a decent level?

This would helpful to myself, and I believe others, who would have some numbers to shoot for, and could then seriously considering joining the Team.

I would very much appreciate! Thanks.

Re: Starting Team CrossFit Olympic Lifting Team

Leah, anyone can compete at any level. There are qualifying totals to be met for national competitions, but not local. I believe you can compete in Master's Nationals without qualifying (unless it's changed recently.) You've got to start somewhere!

The lightest bar weight for women is 15k and for men 20k - the empty bar. If you can snatch that you can compete.

If you need a number to shoot for - shoot for a bodyweight snatch. If you're anywhere close you're gold at any local comp - well maybe silver.

We very interested here at SECT! I've been wanting to get a weightlifting club going at our affiliate and we decided to fulfill the goal in 2009.

I'll do my best to represent Team CrossFit in weightlifting up north here in Canada. (Hey coach, it's me, that kid from the video Pierre Auge sent you that likes to look at the ceiling)

Thanks for the response Veronica. For me personally, I don't want to compete unless my numbers are half way decent.

What would be a bodyweight ratio to shoot for on the Clean and Jerk?
