Poll of the best DIY Crossfit Gear

I have been doing a lot of DIY projects lately and I thought it would be interesting to get peoples opinions as to the top five pieces of DIY Crossfit gear. I ranked mine based off of the ease/expense of building it, the amount of use I get out of it, and the amount of space it takes up in my gym/garage.
1) PVC paralettes
2) Kipping Pullup Bar (plumbing pipe)
3) Wooden Squat Stands
4) Bulgarian Sandbags
5) Softball pullup grips

What are you using your parallettes for?
Is your pull up bar wall/ceiling mounted or freestanding?
What is your Bulgarian bag made from?

Maybe next you should build a jump box or braid your own climbing rope (instructions in the Journal for both).

Re: Poll of the best DIY Crossfit Gear

paralettes are mainly for handstand pushups and L-sits.
Pull-up bar is wall and ceiling mounted.
Bulgarian bags are made from tire inner tubes.

I mainly use outdoor picnic tables for plyo jumps so I haven't built any boxes yet, and the rope braiding post i saw a while back looked kinda complicated. I would like to have some way to do rope climbs however, because they are definitely a weakness for me. Towel pullups just arent the same in my opion.
thanks

Re: Poll of the best DIY Crossfit Gear

I made the rope. I had my 8 year old son help me keep the rope untangled. He lost interest after awhile but helped me just enough that I was near the end and could keep them on my own. I did 100' of rope and it made about a 9' section. Its perfect for the kids to climb and I use it over a bar for pullups. The nylon is slick. I can only do about 7 pullups before my hands slide right off and let me tell you my grip is feeling it. If I do another one I will probably do 200' with a center core.

The braiding wasn't as complicated as it looks on paper just remember over 5 under 2. You do have to pay attention though b/c if you don't you will forget what side you were on. You can see in mine where I goofed a few times. I will try and grab a photo of it and attach it to this later on.

platform?
spotter stands?
I'm assuming that you have bumper plates, but if you don't you can make those out of tires.
