Yep, we all need goals and beating her is my first one.....once I can beat her......I'm taking on the guys.

Right now I'm still doing jumping pullups but I'm going to try the bands for the next ones. Dips on the bar are horrible too.......soon.

Running, just keep at it. It like everything else in Crossfit evolves. Wall ball and box jumps for me. Hated them, now they are ok.
Lol, notice you don't say you love them now.

Re: Laurie's Crossfit Journey To A Better Me

Sadly, my back decided today that it had had enough.

Four rounds for time of:
Run 400 meters
50 Squats

Time:18:56

First round went ok, second round my lower back was starting to get a little tight. Third round....I should have stopped right there, was really tight but I pushed through it. Fourth round, I could barely run or stand up straight my back was so tight so I walked most of it. I was almost there so I finished off the squats but could barely stand after.

Went inside and just layed on the ground and cried. After about 10 minutes if felt better and I stretched. I can walk ok but it feels really tight and is pulling on the left side.....just like when I hurt it last year. Tomorrow is a rest day. I think I could have gotten around 16 minutes if my back hadn't quit. I'm so disappointed right now.

Smart to quit before hurting yourself.
Do you have a foam roller? I pulled something nasty in my back once doing deadlifts and a foam roller fixed it in a day.
Train smart, train long!

I rolled it out last night but since it's my low back I can't quite get to it. I'm thinking some yoga might help it a little. Still feels tight today so I'm icing it. Going to see if I can find the stretches my physical therapist gave me the last time my back did this. Last time I couldn't even bend over it was so tight. Definitely not going to let it go there again.

30 yard shuttle run. Run 5 yards touch ground with hand, run back then run 10 yards touch and back again.

3R 3L Kettle bell snatch #15
5 pull-ups
5 Clap chest push ups
5 box jumps 20

5 rounds

Time: 1:25; 1:19; 1:11; 1:13; 1:06

I seriously thought I was going to throw up after this one. It took a while for me to catch my breath but after class I worked on kipping pull-ups. Almost forgot, I can do clap push ups. I was surprised but I did them.

Oh, and do not like kb snatches...

Re: Laurie's Crossfit Journey To A Better Me

5K ~ Time: 32:13

Monday, July 20, 2009
Okay fan club. I ran my first 5k today. I don't think I did too bad either. 32:13 I only stopped once to tie my shoes (I swear, they really were untied) and I kept on going. We had to run around this never ending block 3 and a quarter times. Tied my shoes during the second. Thought about walking on the end of my 2nd but couldn't because Chongo was coming up behind me, so I just kept going. Third lap my thighs and hammies were burning but Chongo already lapped me once, I wasn't going to let him do it again. Beside I was almost there. I thought, I have to do this for my girls......but that wasn't really helping to motivate me. So I thought about our branch manager.

He rolled his atv this weekend at Carnegie. With no one around he had to walk to get help..with a broken ankle, 8 broken ribs, a broken clavicle and a punctured lung....he walked for over an hour to help. They had to helivac him to the hospital. He's okay now but if this man could do this.....I can run 5 ****ing k in good health. So I quit my *****ing and just kept going.

Re: Laurie's Crossfit Journey To A Better Me

Tuesday 090728

With a continuously running clock do one 135 pound Clean and Jerk the first minute, two 135 pound Clean and Jerks the second minute, three 135 pound Clean and Jerks the third minute... continuing as long as you are able.

Use as many sets each minute as needed.

I did 9 rounds with 65lbs. After resting a while, I felt pretty good so I tried it again...this time 7 rounds with 75lbs. Not too shabby eh?

Tomorrow is a 10k run.......I don't think so....but I will run 5.

Re: Laurie's Crossfit Journey To A Better Me

Thursday, July 30, 2009
30 Wall Ball #20/#14
300 meter row
30 box jumps 24″/20″
30 KB Swings #53/#35
30 DB Push Press #45/#25
30 Deadlifts #225/#135

Time: 20:40
Kane's time: 12:22

Kane came down to MM Crossfit tonight and tried out a workout with me. Lots of fun. Of course he totally kicked ***. I wasn't even about to try and keep up with him.

**I used the lighter weights except with db push presses, someone had the 25#'s so I used 20 instead. Believe me, not complaining.**
