Re: Diva is a female version of a hustla!

Ya know, of all the posts on this brand new log, guess which one caught my eye first?

Your reputation precedes you, Christy, but now you're known as the girl that OWNS me. Great. Just GREAT.

A couple things I need to address before I begin commenting on this log regularly...

1) Sasha Fierce? Seriously?! At least mine's a song by The Bled...
2) I'm literally terrified of what this "alter ego" is capable of
3) Okay, I'm sorry for proclaiming victory when you still had 10 minutes left, but it's such a rare occurrence. Like the aurora borealis.
4) Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream is unreal.
5) Saturday is going to suck. And be awesome. And suck.

Keep up all the good work, homegirl! Like I tell everyone when you're not around: Christy Phillips is my hero.

REST DAY!

Going out to dinner with an gdub friend i haven't seen in a while. I will try hard to resist the different mojito offerings they have at the restaurant, but we'll see what happens...although I should try to stay fresh for tomorrow's 3 WOD extravaganza, start time 7:30am at Primal
Woo hoo!

Well, well, well!

Glad to see you finally make it to the boards, Christy!

For those of you who don't know her, yet - Christy is a FIREBREATHER.

Seriously, though - remember this lady's name and follow her blog.
I have no doubt she will be 1 of the 6 female qualifiers from the Mid-Atlantic Regional. no pressure

If I don't see you sooner - see you in VA Beach!

Re: Diva is a female version of a hustla!

Saturday 3/21/09

3 WODS, one awesome day

8:00 am
4 Rnds
400 m Run
20 Burpees
12:41

11:30am
5 Rnds
21 Deadlifts (110 lbs)
7 Thrusters (110lbs)
14:41

2:30pm
5 Rnds
7 Split Jerk (95lbs)
20 Pullups
11:02 annnd Quint beat me! By at least 2 minutes

Sunday 3/22/09 REST
Sore traps and hamstrings mostly

Monday 3/23/09
Did Karen with Quint (haha)
150 Wall Ball (20 lbs)
10:08
Quint- 9 minutes and change
Beat me again!

Then Anna was doing some density training, so I decided to pick two exercises and try it out for 10 minutes.
First exercise- GHD situps Anna had been doing GHD situps, I had not read Erin's response to my question yet on situps v. GHD v. other core strengthening exercises but now that I have I think I would have went with it anyway...
Second exercise- Overhead Squats with 15lbs dbs...really challenging for me even at that weight to keep my arms, elbows, shoulders up straight and locked out.
The deal with density training is for you to do as many reps as you can on the 1st exercise but just before failing then switch to the second exercise and repeat. Tally total reps.

My tally-
92 GHD situps
59 OHS
Did 9 rounds total- 10 ghd situps each rnd then 12 on the last rnd and anywhere from 4-8 OHS each rnd.

To add to Erin's reasons to NOT do GHD situps- they give me a headache! I still have one- gonna go to bed and sleep it off...

Re: Diva is a female version of a hustla!

I took another rest day today. I'm not that sore anymore, just tired all over. I couldn't resist doing 50 push-ups tonight since Travis challenged me to. I could only do 25 in a row then broke them up into 10s and 5. Other than that and demoing some kipping pullups for a client, it was total rest! Hopefully ill feel more awake tomorrow!

Re: Diva is a female version of a hustla!

Did Lynne by myself at the globo gym where I personal train a few hours a week. So not fun working out alone! And doubly not fun at a globo gym with one of those pull-up towers with handles for pull-ups sticking out of it. I just want a straight bar! Is that too much to ask??

Lynne:
All pullups were kipping and I set myself up with a bench in a power rack, so when I failed I just let it hit the bars (they were pretty much exactly even with my chest) and rolled the bar away to get out from under it

1) 12 bench (95lbs)
15 Pull-ups (ugh)
Rest 4 min
2) 4 Bench (125lbs, my bw is 129 right now so just a little under bw)
15 Pull-ups
Rest 4 min
3) 4 bench (125lbs)
15 Pull-ups
5 min rest- heart was pounding like crazy and slow to get back recover
4) 2 Bench (125lbs)
10 pullups
4 min rest
5) 3 bench (125lbs)
11 Pullups

Then I did some deadlifting real quickly with the 10 min i had left before a training appt:

95lbsX8
135X6
155X4
185X4
205X2
225X1
No rest in between except for the time spent loading the plates.

Re: Diva is a female version of a hustla!

I didn't have a lot of time today- got into primal at 4:20pm and had to leave by 5. I knew I wanted to do some sort of power lifting, just didnt know what. So Quint showed me the Burgener warmup (ya I know lame that I didnt already know how to do it...Im just more into metcons than OLY lifting) then I started warming up with cleans thinking I would maybe go for a 3 rep max. At that point I realize that I have like 15 min before I have to go- not really enough time to work up to a 3rm so Quint suggests I do Grace. And I do anything Quint asks of me- *training related only*

First time for Grace-
95lbs, full squat cleans and then push jerk, not pwrclean and press X 30
6:37

It felt good, maybe a little too good. I'm looking for a big pr next time I try it.

Oh sure, rub it in.

Nevertheless, baller performance today, even with little time to work with. Saturday = mayhem.
