Wooden Rings

I am interested in the Rogue FIG Wooden rings.

I am just concerned about the durability, they would be used outdoors.
Are they durable?
Will they have a good life span?
How do they compare to Metal in grip/feel and life span?

Take into consideration: dropping them, weather conditions, other people abusing them, etc.

Thank you

Re: Wooden Rings

By "used outdoors" do you mean kept outdoors or just used when you workout outside? Big difference. I am not sure how they would do if they got consistantly rained on. However they are extremely durable, nay unbreakable. They feel great on the grip and hold chalk extremely well, however if you sweat a lot and sweat a lot ON them they can get slippery, but I think this holds true with any ring. I like them better grip wise compared to the metal rings, however I like the weight of the metal rings more. I have both and throw both around all the time, and I cannot phase them. Like I said I have never used them in the rain, so can't help you there.

The weight difference is significant and noticeable in muscle-ups, dips, etc. It's a preference.

Re: Wooden Rings

Aidan, I did a review on the Rogue Rings that's in this subforum.

With wood rings, they are great to use outdoors, but I wouldn't keep them out there. That woul be like keeping your MR2 with the T-top off. May work for Arizona, not for Seattle.

Re: Wooden Rings

I used mine on an outdoor platform and left them out in a couple rains. The laminated wood sections separated. Some wood glue and clamps fixed them up fine, but if you use them outdoors, bring them in when not in use.

Re: Wooden Rings

use them and take them down, they're a cinch to disassemble - don't flush your money down the drain...they are great rings too.

I agree. Our straps are super simple and fast to use so just take them down after each use.

We used our larger size Rogue Wooden Rings WFS at the CF Games and everyone loved them! We had them set up with our OD straps.
