Stevia FDA-approved for use as sweetner in foods and beverages...

... and here come the cokes and pepsis of the world to fill grocery shelves with seemingly "healthy" drinks containing it (and other stuff, but don't ask what!).

For some reason, I just don't trust it yet.

I use a very small amount of it in my homemade protein bars - a fraction of a teaspoon. I figure in moderation it should be OK.
Those who say it can't be done shouldn't interrupt the people doing it.

Re: Stevia FDA-approved for use as sweetner in foods and beverages...

I've used Stevia instead of sugar/splenda/aspartame etc for a few months now. It takes some getting used to. It doesn't have the same taste as sugar. It's more like sugar substitute taste. But it's from the bark of a tree, so how bad can it really be for you?

You'll know right away if you use too much. Gets very bitter.

On a related note for natural sweeteners, try "miracle fruit" (WFS)
My dad's into rare/tropical fruits and has one of these. You can take just a tiny piece of miracle fruit and chew it up, then go lick a lemon and it tastes like sweet lemonade.
