Thought this would be of interest to anyone who owns (or is contemplating) a Yukon GHD. I modified the footplate (safe link) to make it bigger and thicker. It's a big improvement, and my hack just fits over the existing footplate - no welding or drilling of the GHD required.

That is a really nice mod. Its so nice it inspires one of those, "Darn why didn't I think of that moments."

Where did you guys get your Yukon GHD from? I'm about to order one and the cheapest price I've found is $198.99 shipped from bigfitness.com; a whole $1 cheaper than the other dozen or more places that I've found that sell it for $199.99 shipped.

thanks,
-Mike

I got mine directly from Yukon, ended up being $207 after shipping. I probably could have done slightly better, but somebody recommended them, and everybody else was right around $200 anyway.

well i just placed my order with bigfitness.com for $198.99 shipped. i had emailed yukon and they told me $51 for shipping (putting it at $221) and when I did the online checkout through yukon's site, it was quoting me $45 for shipping ($215). hopefully this bigfitness.com place doesn't take too long to ship; i hate waiting! ;)

Re: Yukon GHD Footplate Improvement

What is the difference between a "Roman Chair" and a GHD? I have found a few good deals on Roman Chairs (eBay) that appear to function like a GHD.

FWIW, I received my GHD yesterday. I was getting a little worried/annoyed that I placed my order on the 17th, they charged my credit card on the 21st and I hadn't received any information from them. No tracking number, no email saying it was shipped, etc. But, lo and behold, around 6:30 last night, the doorbell rung and a Fedex guy delivered it. Yay! He was driving a Fedex van instead of a normal Fedex truck; not sure if it was considered 'freight' or what. I put it together last night, but haven't had a chance to try it yet. The wife was working all evening and I've never used a GHD and didn't want to get myself into a bad position.

Re: Yukon GHD Footplate Improvement

Congrats, Michael! I hope you like it. Between the GH Situp and the GH Raise, not to mention back and hip extensions, it's one of my favorite pieces of equipment. Russian twists on it are fantastic too.

Re: Yukon GHD Footplate Improvement

Oh, sorry, one more thing. I found this GHD article to be very helpful. It's the manual it should have come with (PDF, safe link):
