Re: Ufc 121 picks

Brock by Smash. Cardio shmardio. (would love to see a crazy upset just to see Lesnar's facial expression)

Hammill by youth and he's not Tito. Waiting for the excuse train again even though Tito said he hasn't felt this good in years. Whatever.

Kampmann by avoiding the takedown long enough and utilizing superior striking.

Thiago by decision.

GG...if the real GG will please show up. Not sure Schlaub is ready for primetime.

Re: Ufc 121 picks

I'll take Cain in Fran, Helen, or Cindy.

I'll take Lesnar in a fight.

WOW Brock looks scary for this fight. He came in at a lean 264. Scary, scary man. Cain had better come with his A game.

Re: Ufc 121 picks

It's hard Michael, but it can be done. Last night actually brought me my 2nd big win this year, which is the first year I have ever bet on anything. I got into it because a client was always making money off my picks, so I decided to give it a run, and so far so great.

First you've gotta stick to YOUR picks. Don't listen to neither these couchpotatoes "analysts" who look like they never rolled or sparred in their life nor to the masses of casual fans who think they understand the sport when they really don't. Then you need to combine your understanding of fighting with the dynamics of THE SPORT of fighting: poor judging, possible upsets in EVERY card, overhyped fighters, underappreciated fighters, etc... .

I have learned that it is about more than just good picks; you need to take a step outside of the sport and look at it not only from within but from without as well, so you can see it as whole.

As an example, last night I felt supremely confident on 4 picks: Hamill by decision, Thiago/Sanchez to go the distance, Shields just to win, and Velsaquez by TKO. My $100 parlay paid me $1,000. However, in other nights I may have used that same $100 solely for a straight bet on a single fight. Every card is different. As a rule, I always lay a small parlay on my picks for each card. If I feel good about a fight I lay a straight bet on it. And if I feel realy good about a few fights, like last night, I lay a heavier parlay on it. You've gotta pick your shots.

As another example, Rampage is fighting next. In his last fight, against Rashad, he made me $1,550 (my other big win) on a parlay that I had Rashad (to beat Rampage) + Shields (when he beat Henderson) + King Mo (when he beat Mousassi). These were all underdogs, fighting in different organizations, and months apart from each other, and yet I parlayed them together for my biggest win so far. You've got to pick your shots.

Anyways, just my .02 for what is worth.

BTW Rampage is dropping another decision to Lyoto next...

Damn right he did!! He brought his A, B, and C game. I was waaayyy off. I doubted whether Cain could get up after Brock took him down: wrong. Cain recovered quick and immediately punished Lesnar. Brock was a fish outta water, and I believe he verbally submitted. NOW THAT is impressive!! Kudos to Cain, he has a new fan. I hope he holds on to the belt for awhile. Great story, great fighter.

Also, now, we'll see whether or not Brock is in this thing for the long haul.

Not to take anything away from Cain, but Brock looked like complete garbage. The couple times he got take downs he did NOTHING on the ground. Where was his amazing ability to use his weight to his advantage on the ground???? I mean Cain just kind of pushed him off with one hand and stood up, that is not something a NCAA heavyweight champion lets you do.

Cain was good to be sure.
Brock looked pathetic.

Brock definitely looked bad. But, was that a function of Cain being that much better? Or, Brock simply having a bad night? I tend to think it was the former.
