Newbie - Intro and looking for crossfit buddies
Hi all,
Been following the crossfit website and message boards for awhile now, finally decided to join. I've started to include more and more crossfit workouts into my daily exercise routine and I think I'm becoming a crossfit convert! I'm in Tokyo and am looking for other people to crossfit with on the weekends. I'm not as fit as I'd like to be and have a ways to go. Having a hard time finding the equipment needed to do the WODs proper. If anyone's in Japan and has tips, I'll appreciate the help! Dai |

Hi fellow newb. Have you thought about building some of the equipment yourself? There's a fair amount that you can build pretty cheap.

Good luck! Try the 'looking for crossfitters' forum. You might also try to PM this guy http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=30596 w/f/s. He's not right next door to you, but at least he's in the same country and he might have some insight to where you might go, or others in the same situation.

Re: Newbie - Intro and looking for crossfit buddies
Hey Shane, I have thought of building some stuff but I'm not much of a handyman and would probably waste the money buying the raw materials only to end up not being able to put anything together. That and I have no space, Tokyo is really crammed.

Thanks Tim, it's tough trying to set up a home gym with limited space but I'm trying to make it work. Been pouring over the posts and getting some great pointers.

There was a post with pictures of gyms in apartments. One Xfitter had a pull-up bar in a bedroom with the rings hanging from there. You can get all kinds of ideas, stuff you never would have thought of, and you don't have to have all the "fancy" gym stuff. It's great, and good use of what's already around.

Have some confidence man! If you do a little research you'll find that some of the stuff isn't hard to build. Or maybe...Is there a park or a school with some playground equipment nearby? You could probably do some workouts there if nowhere else.
