Air Force Chick Looking for a Challenge!

Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself and say I'm super stoked to be joining this community I'm currently in a deployed location and was recently introduced to CrossFit by a guy I work with; I think he's gained over 30 pounds in the past few months from the program, of solid muscle! I've got nothing but time over here, might as well take advantage!

A little background: I've had a love for fitness since I can remember, always trying to outdo the boys in arm wrestling/push-up contests/sprints...competition is what motivates me the most! I'm an aerobics and spinning instructor back home and I have what some would say a slight obsession with running...can't help it, it's my therapy. Especially over here! I'm also training for my 2nd half-marathon to do once I return stateside.

But I'm looking for a new challenge! I recently entered a figure/body building competition over here, and while I felt I was adequately prepared, when I got there I felt so of my league! I mean, these girls were CUT and super strong! Although it was intimidating, it def inspired to step up my game. CrossFit seems like just the thing I need right now

I just did my first WOD yesterday; I think I was sweating for like an hour after I was finished, amazing! It was like nothing I've done before...can't wait to see what's next!!

Also, you may be interested in www.CrossfitEndurance.com (WFS) for your marathon training. It's geared to be in addition to CrossFit and for endurance events.

Hey Lesley.

Welcome to the boards. Let me guess, you did an NPC show. I'm a figure competitor in the DC area. I'm taking two years off to do powerlifting. I've been incorporating crossfit into my bb workouts. I'm in transition to powerlifting training.

Re: Air Force Chick Looking for a Challenge!

Welcome, and thanks for serving! My time is done, but I have a stepson in Iraq right now. I've had family members in all 4 branches in the last 2 generations(I was Navy, my brother and uncle were Army, as well as my stepson, my other uncle on my mom's side was Air Force, and my dad's cousin just retired as a Colonel in the Marines.)

Since your interests include figure/bodybuilding competition, you really ought to chat with Veronica, she's the resident expert in that stuff. http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=24031 w/f/s. She can probably give you some good pointers and motivation!

Edit: Heheh, she beat me to it!

Oh, and I love your quote! Who is it from?
