Yeah, those neck exercises are silly. Actually the workouts, while good, are quite dated. BUD/S is constantly evolving, especially in training modalities. Anyone aspiring to go should use the book as a "guide", but incorporate a lot of other stuff around what it perscribes. For example, sticking to the running and swimming schedule, but preparing your body in other ways for the PT's. Pullups and pushups in the basement can get pretty boring after three months.
