I'd like to build these squat stands (work/fam safe link of a squat rack).

Can anyone give me an estimate of:

- The height from the floor to the rack (the part that will catch a failed lift).

- The distance between the racks

I'd like to be able to use it for squats and bench press as well, so the height can't be too high or too low.

Also, for safety I'm thinking of building the entire thing out of 4x4 lumber. Is this overkill? Can I use 2x4's for any of it? I'd like it to be solid but not so solid that its too heavy to move around and/or take somewhat apart (for storage against a wall, not entirely down to nuts/bolts).

1. 24"
2. 46"
3. Rungs should be in 2" or 4" increments starting 2" above the spotting posts, decide how high you want it from there!
