Re: Monkey butt?

Thanks for the options. I've previously tried the towel and that didn't help. I like the hands under the butt idea and will give that a shot along with just going without the abmat.

Bolded parts are the key. Horse stall mats - typical CF gym flooring is rough. I've started having a yoga mat or just some heavy duty foam (like wrestling mats) to sit on when doing situps. Put those Jane Fonda yoga mats to use.

It'll work for you as it's worked for me and:
1. I'm likely heavier than you Angela
2. I know I sweat more than you (which is likely to increase the chaffing)
3. Since I've used a yoga/wrestling mat, no raspberries

Re: Monkey butt?

We have blue puzzle mats we use for stretching...I put the abmat on one of those. I did tabata situps once on just the horse stall mat...lesson learned

Re: Monkey butt?

Our box has yoga mats for that purpose and I haven't had any problems since!

Re: Monkey butt?

I use a mat AND a folded towel, and had my first no pain abmat experience. Thanks for the tip!

Re: Monkey butt?

one more addition-ladies, if you wear tights that have a zipped pocked on the lower back, beware. We did Annie today (RX first time, WOO WOO), and the repeated motion, with the zipped pocket in my lower back a little bit rumpled underneath me, led to a rash of epic proportions.

Lesson learned--there will be a pair of emergency shorts in my trunk in case abmats show up on a day I'm wearing these tights...

Re: Monkey butt?

compression shorts... i prefer underarmour to nike because nike's are thin and rip easier.. unless you just get some skin gear.
