Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

Eugene,

you could send that pallet to my parents' house in olympia. that way, when my wife, son and I come up for Christmas to see the folks, i'll have something to do when i'm not fishing with pops.

as continental would frown upon 500 lbs of bumpers in my carry-on, i would happily return the plates to you upon my departure. tacoma is on the way to seatac anyway. that'll also leave you with enough time to come up with a good explanation for the purchase.

I had a suspicion I shorted myself so I attacked this again today.

21 strict. PR (and goal) + 6.

Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

Did mine on Eugene's birthday. I was going for 20 but I only got 15. I normally get around 8 so I'm cool with it. I'll go for 60 next year. I have plenty of time to get ready.

Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

Shawn - You are going to shoot for 60 with a max of 20 now...in one year? Wow, when you make goals you shoot for the stars. I applaud your enthusiasm and grit. You're going to be spending a lot of time hanging from a bar in 2008.

Well done Alexander - 30 to 39 is the second most frequently occuring rep count...and one heck of a lot of pullups. You could do 32 strict ones in college. Wow, that's a lot of dead pulls.

Got you down for 21 Brandon and strict yet. I'm pretty sure I can't do that many without kipping. My kip saves me.

David - I always knew the CrossFit community was an extended family and a caring, generous lot that seeks only to help others. Your selfless, help a buddy gesture of being willing to have that pallet of bumpers be delivered to your driveway speaks loudly of your giving nature. I'll bet you would even have been willing to unload the pallet and check to see that the bumpers all fit the bars properly, bounced OK from overhead and felt to be the proper weight and balance on the bar. My God...does your generosity never end. Sadly, I have already given my address to Bill Henniger at Rogue Fitness from whom I got a screaming deal on all those bumpers, so the pallet should be arriving in my driveway within the next few days. Thank you for you thoughtfulness. Perhaps because it was so near my birthday.

Dr. Susie - Stuart is here early to workout and we are going to work on our muscleup. He and I are racing too. Get to it girl. It's you and me sister. I want that T-shirt.

I think I may do sixty next year. How hard can it be, right?

Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

I only mustered 41 pull-ups, my hands were already a little tender and my callus on the palm of my left hand tore off around 35 or so. A little short of my goal of 65.

Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

Here's the spreadsheet with all the returns I have. There were 107 people who gave me pullup numbers and a total of 2,581 pullups were done for an average of 24.1 pullups per person. The numbers went from 1 to 62 and the ages from 6 to 58. Of all 131 people who initially submitted their names the unlikely M/F distribution was 100 men and 31 women. Go figure.

Here's the age and pullup breakdown:

Age
0-9 5
10-19 6
20-29 22
30-39 16
40-49 13
50-59 5

Pullups
0-9 10
10-19 23
20-29 19
30-39 25
40-49 12
50-59 3
60-69 1

Great performances everyone. Thank you for playing.

Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

Wow, Eugene applauded me for my enthusiasm and grit.....now I really have to do 60 pullups next year. That's alot of pressure...I sure hope I don't let him down
PS: I only got 15 this time... not 20.
