Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Workouts are up Vic.

I like 1, 3 and 4. 85k Snatch in the second will test me, my PB is 90k. YOu was spot on about the D-ball, 150lb, I need to find one of those and see how it lifts, and keep my shirt on in that event this year, got my ball sweaty last year.

Overall very pleased. No pistols means I am in there with a good shout.

Constantly think of positive thoughts about the workouts and how much you are ready for this. Middle the way thru the workout is when you say to yourself- others are slowing down time for Scott to speed up.

Not too heavy… Just get thru the 185 snatches and the heavy squat clean.

Everything else is just right up your alley.

Good luck and kill it.

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

I'm good mentally Vic, thanks for the words much appreciated. No HSPU or handwalking again which is surprising.

Let me know if your going to try anything out, be interested to see how you do as we are very close on these workouts. I'm glad to see the gut punch is there in the first workout, last year I did not have a GHD but this year I have done them every week.

Scott,
You are in good shape both mentally and physically. Keep on staying cool and hydrated. What is the taper schedule?

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Tuesday PM- my GF went in to do the class.

Warm up for power snatch.
My form was not the greatest.
EMOM- 45-175, 185F. Then did some snatch pulls up to 205#. Got to find a way to get better at this. Still have 3 weeks to master the power snatch.

Run 800 meters backwards then max clean and jerks 135#- 5:30 for run and 10 unbroken c and j's.
Run sideways 600 meters then max up clean and jerks 135#- 15 reps that was hard.

All of the weird running made it hard to workout.

Some mu swings with towel between feet then some negative mu practice. Getting better at going down from the transition.

Was cool to workout with my lady. She is doing great for a Grandmother

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

So the schedule from CompTrain... 80% effort

Wednesday (yesterday) - events 1 & 2. Only hit 2 deadlifts at the end of 1. I decided not to go 84k on event 2 as that would be 100% effort.

Thursday rest - found a nearby gym with a 150lb ball so I'm going there and learning the best way to lift it.

Friday - Apparently Event 3 skills... running and burpee box jumps so I cannot imagine what skills we will be asked to learn. Also events 4 and 5 testing.

Saturday - flying to LA, no time for anything but eating.

Sunday - Event 6 light practice at CrossFit South Bay.

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Wed -
medium warm up.

Opening up shoulders for MU.

Working on catching the MU high. Did some really good ones catching them very high. Working on the transitions for multiple high catches. The legs sometimes come high past the ring height.

Feeling better with some hip drive. Plus in off season weight up near 190#. So happy to move the fat kid weight in gymnastic movements.

Did about 10 mu.

Warm up for Diane.

3..2..1.. go..
Did everything un broken, transitions were ok, the dead felt very heavy.. did a pr in 2:50 even.

Wanted much better but with the dead being heavy I earned all of the 9 last reps.

Bunch of stretching and cool down.

Rode the bike to and from the gym. About 2 miles each way.

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Thurs- medium warm up. About 45 min worth of stretching and bands

Squat clean- have not gone heavy in a while. 45-255# but missed 265# but not by much. Was an EMOM 15 min.

Hang squat clean - 185-245#

200 total reps/calories with AAB and GHD- Ended up doing 95 ghd's and 105 calories. No particular timing just amass the total.

Taking today off to stretch.

Heavy training days this weekend.
