Lindsay's "I loved cardio, but now I love Crossfit" Log

8/25/10

Discovered Crossfit 610 today. Went in for a free foundation class and then discovered they weren't needed. Unexpected, but exciting. Then took on Helen..

3 rounds
400 m run
21 kb swings (8 kg)
12 pullups (green band)
11:17

Kb swings felt pretty light, could do the pullups in groups of six and then four. Going to try and figure out how and when to add weight or go to a lighter band. I guess its all stuff that will come as I begin to do crossfit daily .
Going to start monday 8/30/10 and shoot for atleast 3 days a week until tri season is over (9/18/10). Until then, still going to have alot of cardio in the mix to be ready for the dewey beach tri.

8/27/10
5:30 am SWIM!

100m warm up
Pyramid:
100m, 200m, 300m, 400m, 300m, 200m, 100m
100m kick board
100m cool down
total = 1,900m, 76 laps

8/27/10
4:00 PM

4.57 mile run with the pup
43:47
Felt a little fatigued from the swim in the a.m. (and the dog pooped twice which slowed me down )

8/28/10
7:30 a.m.
2.2 mile run with the pup - 12:56
10 minute Open water swim in the Chesapeake Bay
Tried to keep pace, not sure how far, dad followed me in the boat and GPS said a little over a third of a mile... Not happy with the swim at all, but looking at it as a huge stepping stone for my fear or big water, and JELLYFISH! Jellyfish everywhere!!!! didnt get stung

8/29/10
rest day

8/30/10
6 am
back squat
3,3,3,3,3- worked up to 135x3 could have def done more, not very difficult, but trying to figure out where i need to start etc..

Bench press
3,3,3,3,3- worked up to 75x3 then had to drop down to 65lbs for the last two sets. Upper body is again my weakness....

Re: Lindsay's "I loved cardio, but now I love Crossfit" Log

8/31/10
Strength:
Clean and Jerk 3,3,3,3,3 - 85x3, 95x2 in last set..

WOD
"Death by Thrusters"
500m row

65lbs -8 rounds
2:02 on the row

Made it to the 9th minute and got 2, but when i dropped the bar, i broke the bumper ... messed it up for me (whoops)
Mike said on my C&J i wasnt explosive everytime, tend to push to much. Same thing with the thrusters, apparently not using momentum enough and making it harder on myself.
Felt some frustration, worked out with a bunch of dudes, so i get competive, have to check that bc i am still learning....alot... in over my head? too much too fast?

Re: Lindsay's "I loved cardio, but now I love Crossfit" Log

9/1/10
"Double WOD Day"

WOD 1:
50, 40, 30, 20, 10
double unders & sit-ups
17:27
(subbed singles, but doubled the amount 100, 80, 60, 40, 20)

WOD 2:
3 rounds
3 rope climbs (back to standing x 6)
21 ring dips (gb)
50 squats

15:26

So this is 3 WOD's in less than 13 hours for me, and it feels like it. Didn't like the times very much, but felt really fatigued. Going to focus on some cardio for the next few days, dont want to get too off track from the tri training (17 days until Dewey Beach)

9/2/10
Rest day
Super soar after my first three consecutive days of crossfit ever, and a total of 4 WOD's

9/3/10
5:30 am
SWIM
100m warm up
1/2 mile swim
50mx8 keeping it under 50 seconds each
50m cool down

Forgot my stop wacth so i am not sure on the time of the 1/2 mile was (too early to do math with there running time) But I am assuming it was a little slower than usual, still feel tired. All 8 sprints under 50s.
