LEO's who have time to workout on duty?

If any LEO in this community get official time to work out, can you give me the basics of your dept policy. I am on a mission to get it instituted in our dept. Thanks

Re: LEO's who have time to workout on duty?

Our city force here gets 1.5 hour "lunch" paid. The boys choose to use it however they wish, but must still answer calls if they are of the utmost urgent and those who are on the road need more backup.

The majority of the guys, head into the station to use the gym, others dick around at home, or some use it to catch up on paperwork.

Hope that helps!

Re: LEO's who have time to workout on duty?

UPDATE:

When I posted on the original thread, we were working 5 on, 2 off.

In January we went to 12 hour shifts. We work 7 out of every 14 days as a cycle, then repeat. We were given an hour to workout during 6 of those 7 work days. However, with vacation, comp, personal days, etc. taken off, we pretty much workout every shift.

Good stuff!!

Re: LEO's who have time to workout on duty?

We get 1.5 hours for meal (12 hour tours) and it's your time to use as you see fit. Problem is we have no facility to work out in. Some of us improvise by bringing sneakers, kettle bells, rings, jump rope etc to work, but it would be nice to start putting together a department sanctioned garage gym. Pretty sure they would not be interested in footing the bill for this project, but our union may be able to swing it. Any suggestions on getting the ball rolling with the job? Word on the street is that a few years back some guys tried to get it going but were shot down, citing "liability issues" the job being concerned with guys getting hurt working out on job time. There is, however nothing in writing addressing the issue at this time. Any suggestions, policies, case law, etc would be greatly appreciated!
