after a month of paleo dieting, i've decided that i'm ready to try adding the zone portions to my diet. problem is, after crunching the numbers, it seems that in the end, i'm only taking in about 1200 calories or so a day. this would be ideal in other situations, but i'm 5'10 and 160 at 11% bodyfat. i'm really active, but i decided to do 15 blocks a day.
correct me if i'm wrong, but that means my protein blocks (15*7 = 105 grams protein * 4cals/gram = 420 calories of protein) carb blocks (15*9 = 135 grams of carbs * 4 calories/gram = 540 calories of carbohydrates) and fat blocks (15*1.5 = 22.5 grams of fat *9 cals/gram = 202 calories of fat) would bring me to a grand total of 1162 calories a day. this...is really low. i think, even dangerously so. in the past, i've dieted zone-like with 4p-3c-3f, and had great results, though i was on supplements and had bread and various other starches within it. all in all, the calorie tab ran about 1500-1700 a day, so i'm really unsure of pulling my energy intake so low. can someone help me out with this? am i wrong about this? thank you. |

Bump it up to the calorie level you feel best at the zone is only a guideline. If you don't want to up the carbs and protien eat way more good fat like fish oil and macadamian nuts.

thanks...i'm trying to get to 7 or 8 % bodyfat, so i was really trying to follow the zone/paleo to a T, but that doesn't seem to look logical in my case.
