Lunch Meat Worry
Since starting the Zone, I have been trying to keep my protein up with meat, but I am getting concerned. The easiest way for me to transport meat from home to work, etc. is to pack lunch meat (usually turkey or chicken). Lunch meat is convenient, but probably not the healthiest meat to consume on the Zone diet. Has anyone been doing the Zone for an extended amount of time and used lunch meats as their "meat of choice?" If so, are you at all concerned about the build up of the potential perservatives, etc.?
Just trying to be healthy, but concerned I am doing more harm while doing it. |

Re: Lunch Meat Worry
Most days for Lunch I goto my local wholefoods and get chicken or turkey breast from the deli counter to go with some salad/fruit.
I never had the idea/impression that this was a bad thing. I think if your lunch meat is coming from the small plastic packets, that one buys in supermarkets, maybe this is slightly less healthy. But I think in general, if you are doing paleo/the zone, your diet is in general so much healthier than it makes up for eating lunchmeat. |
