In "Sleep, sugar and survival", the authors suggest that people should deprive themselves a little more in the food department during the 7 winter months. If one were adhering to the zone requirements, would this be a necessity since some caloric restriction is already taking place? I have additional questions in regards to this topic, but I'll kick it off with this one.

I don't see the logic behind restricting more during winter months. Perhaps it's just a question of keeping intake constant (since the colder temperature will increase metabolic activity)?
