That is definitely hyperbole... A real orthopedic doctor will do nothing? I don't know I wouldn't trust a chiro with lower back ailments, it's far too touchy, i would want a specialists opinion. just my 2 cents.

Michael -who is a back specialist ? Orthopedist is surgeon guess what he does. Pain management\physical medicine will cover the symptoms with meds and injections. PT -not a doctor but at least can work with kinesiology but getting closer. Chiropractor (real doctor diploma and all ) studies the spine ,kinesiology and nutrition and how to correct the biomechanics conservatively. DO -may find one that still manipulates but rare now.

Agree with Megan.
Find a Chiro or PT with crossfit knowledge Chiro can order MRI or any other tests if neccessary as well

I have found PT to be very helpful. I have a new chiro with some new methods, who knows and does Crossfit. Along with this, an ortho should know enough to get you an MRI and a referral to PT. Be careful while strengthening your back. You haven't gotten a full diagnosis yet.

I had severe pain down my left leg ( pinched nerve) and MD just gave pain pills, went to PT and was 90% better in 3 weeks. What saved me was being able to swim 3-4 times a week as a non impact alternative to still get in a real workout. i also shopped around for a PT that treated athletes and not just sick people. One key issue was he said as you start to feel better keep doing all of the exercises and do not start slacking. I am now back to full workouts.
