European coach in the U.S?

Hi everyone,

Here's a new topic about something special:

I'm a french Crossfit coach and I just got a job offer (as cf coach, of course) in the U.S.

I've searched the web in great breadth and I still don't have the answer to this question:

What kind of visa do I have to have to come and coach in the U.S??

There are many categories, and according to what I've read, no one would fit my situation.

But I guess there ARE foreigners coaching on the U.S territory, right?

I hope someone will be able to help me with that!

Thank you for reading this message!

Guillaume

Re: European coach in the U.S?

Sorry brother. Not possible.

You need a work visa and you cant get that for coaching Crossfit.

Find a American girl, marry her and get a green card .. (just like I did lol)

Re: European coach in the U.S?

Hi Kristian,

You must be such a happy man!

I know there may be a way to make it happen, with visa h1-B, but you need to have at least 9 years of experience in your job.

And the j-1 visa is for interns and some "young professionals", this one I dunno if it applies to me, there are no more details on that

So,are you really sure about that?

And you, are you staying there forever? I see you're in the LA area, must be a nice place in general... and for crossfitters particulary

Re: European coach in the U.S?

I moved from Denmark in 2009 to LA on a H1B visa. Its super difficult if you dont have a "specialized knowledge" background cause you dont wanna take a Americans job

I dont see any other way for you unfortunately - I'll suggest visajourney.com for any other visa questions. There are some people that can elaborate.

I love Denmark but California is so much better than all I know in Denmark.. the only thing I miss is my family and friends.

Re: European coach in the U.S?

hey Kristian,

sorry for answering so late,

and thank you for the advice and infos.

You're right, it seems it's not really possible for me to come coach in the U.S.

No big deal, there are also great things in Europe in fact it's even better now, knowing it won't happen (it's been a while I was wondering if it was possible)

I know where I'm going, now

It's great that you found happiness there, keep enjoying it
