Nice Veronica. I worked a lot of snatch pulls before ever touching Deads till about last year. DL seemed like a slow mo DL to me being heavy.

I liked your other videos on myspace as well.

Last time I tried DL PR it went fine when I maxed it out. The next weight I put in just did not move at all. Not even with a mixed grip.

Derek, I was under the impression Sumo DL was slightly easier because the wider stance = a shorter ROM.

On weighted pulls, my boys worked them last Friday but we only ended up working negative spot. We have weight chains, but their performance wasn't that great with the negative spot. We were running out of time and I had intended to start with a few 10 pound chains and move up to the smallest to biggest of my boy's that day ( 40,55, and 65 pounds ).

Negative spots? What do you mean?

Sumo deadlifts are easier or more difficult depending on your strengths. Your point about the smaller ROM makes sense, but remember that glutes are being more emphasized on that particular exercise. I think snatch pulls are kind of cool, myself (deadlift with very wide grip in this case).

A positive spot would be an assisting spot. During a negative spot, the spotter exerts pressure against the athlete. Very similar to light weight spot.

It's been many years since I did any Sumo Squats. Never really done much Sumo DL heavy besides just playing with the exercise and SDHP.

Thanks again guys! David, no my back didn't hurt afterwards besides the "wow, that was a good back workout" kinda hurt.

Sumo style seemed a little easier than conventional once I warmed up to it. The last DL PR I got was a 230 conventional.

Blair, with deads, more often than not it seems that it's either gonna go all the way up or not move at all. Sheesh!
