new to cf... having knee pain

I just finished the Onramp at CrossFit214 in Dallas. I started having some knee pain. The pain is sometimes right above the knee cap. When I sit it seems to move a little to the outside (closer to my side) above the knee cap. It comes and goes. It has been 5 days since my last workout. Sometimes when sitting if I adjust the leg or straiten the leg it goes away. I am pretty out of shape, but am 90% sure it is not muscle pain. Don't want to be overly cautious but also don't want to make something fixable worse.

Re: new to cf... having knee pain

See a physical therapist if you can afford it, definitely don't workout if it's feeling funny. I would check out mobilitywod.com (WFS) and start and check out anything knee related. Go in and talk to the coaches also, as they should be able to show you some myofascial stuff and basic stretches. From my experience, sort this out ASAP as it only takes exponentially longer down the road.

Sounds more like patellofemoral pain. Scott's right about seeing a physical therapist. It's pretty easy to address with the right therapeutic intervention.
