Hi,

Would Dan or anyone mind commenting on the different use of oly lifting stances?

When reviewing 'From The Ground Up' again today i was reminded of the difference between a kind of 'one stance fits all' approach that Dan John demo's, and the clear difference between a lifting and catching stance as drilled in the Burgener warm up.

One stance seems to make things like 'The Drill' or 3 position snatches most simple to perform.

What are your thoughts / experiences?

Stephen, Let me ask you this. What is your stance when you front squat? And, what is your stance when you jump? Are they the same or different?

Typically your jump stance should be narrower than your squat stance - off the floor you're preparing to jump - narrow stance. In the bottom "catch" position you're preparing to OHS or FS - wide stance.

Yeah i think you're right Veronica.

It seems a quick jump for height is about hip to shoulder width, a squat jump slightly wider (prob same as air squat), and to get the depth in a front or OH squat i need to go wider again.
