Intro - Couldn't be more excited....

Hello, brand new to CrossFit so just wanted to say what's up. I'm 34 years old and 6'2" 237lbs. I played 3 sports in HS, couple of years of football at West Point and of course did all the Army PT stuff through the Academy and 6 more years in the Army.

Since I left the Army nearly 7 years ago I have slowly added weight while working out sporadically. Results have been poor. I have run a couple of 1/2 marathons and have been lifting weights for years but I had thought I lost the ability to really challenge myself in the gym.

An Army buddy told me about Crossfit and I joined CrossFit Lake Country in Hartland, WI last week. My goals are to build the type of core and functional strength I've paid lip service to for years (while always going back to my bench press and elliptical machine workouts). If I can get back to doing 20+ dead hang pullups and lose 15-20 lbs that would be awesome too. I know it's possible to be 35 and feel 25.....That's my goal...enhanced quality of life, energy and athletic performance.

Looking forward to getting better and seeing great results!

Jim

Hey Jim welcome to the forum,
if you want to lose weight its mostly diet, check out paleo for quality and zone for quantity and you should be fine.

Best of Luck!

No question, this will happen tenfold. Step right in, you seem ready and ideal candidate for a CrossFitter.

Thomas,

Small world. I see you are in Westport. I grew up in Darien..graduated DHS in 1993. Haven't been back there in a few years but good to see a "local"

Do you work out at an affiliate in Southern CT?

Jim
