CrossFitters on Facebook

I searched and couldn't find a specific thread, so apologies to the Mods if this is a repeat.

My family has forced me to create a Facebook profile. I'm wondering how many other CFers are on there...

I'm 'bretweir' on there... or search by name. I'll be happy to befriend any CFer!

My wife Kerry has one also, search her by name or by going to my page.

P.S. I'm too old for this crap....

Bob,

Im 32 and Im too old for this crap! I cant believe how much of my life it has already sucked out of me! I only got a page because I wanted to win the ipod shuffle from the Fight Gone Bad Fundraiser and now I have people I hardly know or used to know 15 years ago asking to be my "friend."

Re: CrossFitters on Facebook

I'm on it and I'm far far too damn old for it. I had a bunch of our users in our dept asking me about it and whether it was safe for work so I figured I best look into this thing. Too bad it's not in my power to block the bloody thing.

The only good thing I've seen about it is that I've "found" a bunch of folks I went to college with that I lost touch with due to multiple moves on everyones part.

I'm 33 and too old for Facebook also! The reason I'm on it is because my 12-year old daughter has a page and I wanted to be able to monitor what she's doing. Positive side is that I promote the heck out of Crossfit and our affiliate CrossfitAmes on my page!

Whats wrong with that? All the people actually doing something to make a change don't have time for face book. I'd rather have an army of gym weenies then a legion of facebookers.

I hear ya.... I'm limiting myself to family (and CF family of course) or I'll make enemies real quick.

There's something wrong with it because it spills over to real life. Most people I know would sooner ***** about the new Facebook layout than talk about Tibet (even before the Olympics, when Tibet was fashionable) or any other real life issues. They have screwed up priorities. The New Facebook thing gets far more air time in real life and on the internet than it deserves.

I'm not saying you have to be a member of a Facebook group to care about stuff, but generally people just don't care and the group stats I posted illustrate it nicely. It is probably just a function of being 18, but it's still not good.

That's because most people dorking around with facebook aren't really in touch with "life issues". Before this starts a battle, I realize there are exceptions to every rule, and I'm not trying to say everyone on facebook can't see the world past their monitor. However, we all know that many people don't even know where Tibet is, or why soldiers are dying in Afghanistan, or even where Georgia is (no, not the home of the Master's - the other Georgia).
