This has been a goal since I figured out how hardcore rowing is. I was pulling 1:40 range 500 meters fine, but just didn't understand how I could pull any faster. I have to say the rowing demos on the main page have really helped. I finally got a coordinated legs, hips, arms groove going, and just pulled for all I was worth. I kept a nice 1:28 or so pace for the first 400 m and then just lost it for the last 100 m. Came out 1:31 or 1:32. My breathing was all over the place, so I think I could manage a sub 1:30 if I focussed on it.

The kicker was that this was all part of the:

Three rounds for time of:
Row 500 meters
50 Wall Ball shots

WOD from a while back. So after that row I got to look forward to two more and over a hundred wall balls. Anyway, this really made my weekend, and except for the disattached quad feeling, I can't wait to try for another soon.

Just different mechanics. I'm 6'2", 200 lbs. Very long torso, so as I finally figure out what "hip extension" is things just come together. I don't know if I'd even survive a hard 2k row, and most of my rows are in the 25 spm range.

PR's are never anything to dismiss! Any goal achieved is awesome. Congrats on the sub 2:00!
