I've got a line on a dumbbell rack plus 4-5 pairs of dumbbells (I believe they're hexagonal) for $400. Haven't seen it yet; going to look at it on Saturday and may haggle a little if I think I can get away with it. Is this at least halfway reasonable? Thanks in advance.

Seems high to me, but depends on how much weight, if they are rubber-coated (useless to me but still more expensive in a store) and the quality of the rack.

Personally, I'd pass. In my area, you can buy used hex dumbbells from Play It Again Sports for $.29/lb. I think new prices are $.40 - $.49 at big box stores.

Will - that's way high. I got a brand new set of rubber coated dumbells in 5 pound jumps from 5 to 40 for $300. You can find much better deals on Craig's list or Play it Again Sports or even new stuff from Garts or GI Joes on sale for much cheaper. Don't buy them.

That is way too much.
Unles those 4-5 pairs are really heavy DBs then Id try to negotiate it down.

Just to beat a dead horse, Academy sports sells an 8 pair db set with storage rack for under $300. http://www.academysports.com/index.php?page=content&target=products/fitness/weig hts/weights_benches&lnkSRC=FitNav&start=12

Work and family safe, walt disney himself would approve.
