I just bought a couple of stall mats to cover some wood floors in a dining room so I can start setting up my gym. I am hoping to buy a house soon so I can move this to a basement or garage but for now I am stuck with a heavy petroleum odor throughout my rental house. Does this go away over time or is there something I can do to cover or eliminate the odor? My house smells like a refinery!

I think you might be out of luck. Potpourri might be your best bet!

I clean mine with bleach and either it has helped or, I got used to it.

The odor goes away in a few weeks.

I've purchased single stall mats when I was out in rural Iowa, rolled them up in the back seat/trunk of my Jetta and left them there while I made my sales calls for the day. I've grown fond of the "new stall mat smell". Someday you will miss that smell when your mats are old and cruddy.
