How do you all that are running CrossFit gyms handle the running? Do you just run around the building, or do you use treadmills, or do you just relocate to a nearby track for workouts that call for it? Any feedback would be appreciated.

For me it depends where I train. If I'm living at home in Exeter then the nearest gym is an athletics stadium so I run on the track. If I'm in one of the other gyms in Exeter (I have a choice of 3) then I'll use either a running or rowing machine depending on mood and availability. If in Brighton I mostly train at home so if running is required I go to a small nearby basketball court and run up and down that, if the weather is bad I use a skipping rope for however long I think it would take to run the distance.

Barry

At Crossfit North one lap around our building is about 440 meters, so that stands for all WODs which call for 400 meter runs. If more accuracy is needed we pace off 200 meters out and back on a side street. We can run 100 meter laps on indoor astro turf in the winter. And yes we relocate to a nearby high school track for some real track workouts occasionaly.

The Original Crossfit facility has a 400 meter, 800 meter, and 1 mile loop mapped outside the gym. Depending upon where I workout I do the following:
1) go to the local high school track (take my Kettlebell & jumprope with me. I also use the stadium steps
2) Run around the outside of the gym
3) I run on the gym treadmill (yuck!)
