Question weightlifting in israel?

hi, i only recently discovered crossfit and am applying a lot of it to my workouts at home. i'm really impressed by the cf community, and i hope someone here can help me with some information.

i am a journalist with the jerusalem post, and i'm working on a feature story on weightlifting here. no, not the globo gym stuff, the olympic-style lifting and "real" athletes... if anyone knows of serious gyms/trainers/lifters and could tell me how to get in touch with them, i'd really appreciate it.

thanks!

Re: weightlifting in israel?

Why don't you contact the IDF? They may have a bead on serious trainers...

Plus I found this on a google search:

"Amit Sapir – Olympic Weightlifting

Amit Sapir completed his degree in Physical Education at Israel’s prestigious Wingate Institute, the site of Israel’s Sport Research and Olympic Training Center. Amit has won 5 Israeli National Titles in Olympic Weightlifting and is preparing for the 2008 Olympics. He has had a successful international competition career, despite having to compete in the European Region, which includes almost all of the world’s top olympic weightlifting countries. As a hobby, Amit competes in bodybuilding, and in 2005 he represented Israel and placed in the top 20 at the IFBB World Amateur Bodybuilding Championships; he will be representing Israel again at the 2006 IFBB World Championships."

There are some clues in there...
